I have seen both seasons of re zero and I really like it, my only complaint is that subaru just feels too weak for the series and watching him die over again starts to get boring. My question is, does subaru get any new magical abillities or something in the later arcs, except his Authority of Sloth of course?

Subaru can't use magic anymore without help from Beatrice since his gate is broken, which makes learning magic pretty much off the table for him. Subaru is super compatible with authorities, but one also has to be compatible with each "sin" to use that specific authority effectively.. Basically Subaru learnt one thing from Magic throughout the series and it was always using so my question why didn't he learnt Magic he could master it with his ability and everything would be a lot easier and he could ask Beatrice to help him .
