PBS is historically known for being a non commercial network and as a result has not needed to indicate as much that it contained educational and informative programming. However, in September 2005 PBS began using E/I bugs in most of its kids shows. In January 2020, the E/I bug on PBS stopped being used for most kids programming due to the FCC ruling that non commercial networks don't have to..
