The results, not so kewl!Attached is the picture of the back of the Wadsworth panel cover. It makes me wonder if I only really have 60 amps. In this picture, note that I do NOT have screw-in fuse numbers 9 thru 12. I have all the rest though.I like the idea of running the new breaker panel from the range fuse block of the Wadsworth.. We have a square meter box, which almost always indicates a 100-amp service. I'd estimate that about 98% of homes with square meter boxes have 100-amp services. But that's not a hard and fast rule; just a clue. Next, we look at the service entrance conductors (SECs); those big, thick wires coming into the fuse block at the top left.
Here's a quick review of how to use a fuse box (with the screw-in fuses) safely and some discussion about what to look out for in an old house.. The problem is that there is no main breaker in the box and I cannot seem to find the correct one to purchase so that I can get an inspection of the electrical system. The house was built in 1940. The outside of the panel box reads: Wadsworth 100 AM 3 Pole 100 AM 240 AC-3 (then there is a circle with a verticle line going through it).
