But to save you some time, the 5-nipple sidemount 8N distributor points gap is 0.025". Caution: the SHORT #8-32x3/16" points screw have invisable wear and won't hold yer points setting. New p/n 355047-S7 screw is only $50c (cheap) You can gitt this same screw from yer local Ford Automobile dealer. Just tell'em its a #8-32x3/16" points screw.
Setting the points of an 8N tractor is the process of adjusting the gap between two parts in the distributor. Set the timing on the bench and reinstalled on the tractor. I checked the resistance of the new '12 volt' coil and compared it to the existing '12 volt' coil. New coil had 1.6 ohms, existing coil had 2.2 ohms.
