I haven't read the book, but these are the spoilers I've read: She ends up with Cole. She breaks it off with Alex first, and then, she and Cole share their feelings/kiss before she heads off to NYC. There's also an expectation that they will be together officially, whenever she returns. Idk how the show will go, but it sounds to me like the book is a fairly straightforward love story.
