Echidna is the eldest and the strongest among the nine World Tree Spirits. Once, she paid a big price by losing most of her power after banishing the Demon Nati. Echidna's Japanese voice actress, Maaya Sakamoto, only took one take to record the Witch of Greed's long-winded speech in episode 37 of the anime adaptation. Echidna's English voice actress, Anairis Quiñones, recorded the monologue in sections and took multiple takes.

Echidna was one of the seven Witches of Sin, the Witch of Greed. Over 400 years ago, Echidna was always anxious and worried about everything. The conflict, the people, the world, everything looked small and fragile to her, and so she thought of everything as a baby, that needed to be protected. Echidna thought it was easy to control a world where even the sway of a single arm could bring.. Echidna despises her parents. Growing up, she never learned anything positive from her parents, and she has only learned negative emotions such as contempt and ridicule from them. As such, they are heavily responsible for being unable to understand her own emotions or even how to handle the opposite sex. She has also compared herself to them, performing actions that she sees as being similar.
